Penrhyndeudraeth is a village approximately 2 miles from Porthmadog, and 9 miles from Blaenau Ffestiniog. The English translation of Penrhyndeudraeth is “peninsula with two beaches”. It is located between Traeth Mawr, the now largely reclaimed estuary of the Afon Glaslyn, and Traeth Bach, the estuary of the Afon Dwyryd.
The village is within walking distance of Portmeirion, where the famous Prisoner television series was filmed in the 1960s.
